Fondé en 1982 le groupe Tongwei fait son entrée dans l'industrie photovoltaïque en 2006. TW SOLAR se positionne comme l'un des acteurs majeurs de l'industrie et fait partie des fabricants de modules classés "Tier 1" par Bloomberg.

Historiquement, Tongwei Solar est l'un des leaders de la production de polysilicium et de cellules photovoltaïques.

En tant que fabricant de modules, il se démarque en étant l'un des rares fabricants à posséder la maîtrise complète de sa supply-chain en interne (du polysilicium jusqu'au module).

Le polysilicium étant le principal driver de coût des modules photovoltaïques, cette intégration verticale lui confère un avantage concurrentiel majeur en termes de prévisibilité des prix de ses modules.

Le fabricant dispose d 'une capacité de production de modules photovoltaïques de 80 GW et de plus de 100 GW pour les cellules.

Fin 2022, la capacité de production de polysilicium du fabricant était de 345 000 MT et devrait atteindre 420 000 MT fin 2024.
